  1. General information

For each sport offered in the ScoutsFeed product, there is the possibility of receiving information about match line-ups. This chapter is designed to help with:

  • understanding the process of creating match line-ups

  • understanding the differences between position and position type

  • understanding when and in what form you can receive the message with the match line-ups

  • understanding how to identify all players who started the match in the starting line-up

  • understanding how to identify players who were not in the starting line-up but participated in the match

The availability of full match lineups depends on several factors:

  • the match must be included in the ScoutsFeed offer

  • the match lineups must be available before the match

  • the competition in which the match is played must be at the Gold or VIP levels

In matches provided within the ScoutsFeed product but within competitions at lower statistical levels (bronze and silver levels), we do not guarantee access to full match lineups for every match. In some cases, we may still provide information about the match lineups, but we will not simultaneously provide player statistics.

When providing match lineups, we always rely on official sources to ensure that the ‘events_ lineups’ message we send is 100% verified and accurate. We base this on official league websites or the official websites of the clubs.

  1. Player positions for specific sports

Each sport available in our ScoutsFeed offer has its own specifics, and consequently - the players associated with them have different roles or positions.

In STATSCORE we distunguish:

  • position - the player's position specific to a given sport and match. In each sport, there are greater or lesser differences in terminology. Examples of positions:

    • Soccer - 1st lineup, Bench

    • Basketball - Starting lineup, Substitute

    • Baseball - Pitcher, Batter

  • position_type - a broader concept than 'position.' The type of position should be identified as the player's status before the match. Example:

    • Soccer - players with the ‘Goalkeeper’ and ‘1st lineup’ positions will have the ‘position_type= starting lineup’

    • American football - zawodnicy with the ‘Offense’ and ‘Defense’ positions will have ‘position_type=starting lineup’

On the Gold statistical level, when it is not possible to identify players by their exact position, there is an option to assign the position type 'Player'. For example:

  • Basketball – if we do not know which players will start the game in the first five (Starting lineup) and which will not (Substitute), all players from the match roster will then be assigned the 'position=Player'.

The 'Will not play' position is assigned to players who, for various reasons, will not participate in the match. For this position, we distinguish the following reasons for absence:

  • Federation decision

  • Coach decision

  • Disqualification

  • Injury

In the case of an injury as the reason for assigning the ‘Will not play’ role, we do not provide specific details regarding the type of injury or the estimated recovery date.

The table below contains information about all the sports available in the ScoutsFeed product, along with the positions and position types for each of them.

Sending messages with match lineups

Key information regarding match lineups and the message format they are sent in:

  • match (event) lineups are sent in a separate message called “events_lineups”

  • this type of message is only sent to partners with:

    • access to GOLD or VIP package - SportsAPI

    • ScoutsFeed product with PUSH players stats add-on

  • it is always sent by the Scout before the start of the match

  • when this message is sent depends on the availability of official match lineups prior to the match. Typically, it is sent between 30 minutes and 10 minutes before the match begins.

  • the structure of the message is described in detail HERE

Example of a player sent with the ‘events_lineups’ message for football (soccer):
